Bilbao – 6/6/2024

On the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of the Consular Corps of Bilbao, and sponsored by Devol, was held this day dedicated to AI and its implications in various sectors.

After the welcome and introduction by José Miguel Zaldo, Miguel Ángel Blanco gave the floor to Miguel Ángel Blanco, who explained how AI is impacting the automation of RPA processes.

The improvement in efficiency and optimization brought about by the robotization of business processes in the company is enhanced thanks to the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence.

Blanco explained how Devol’s latest developments in the field of RPA are making it possible to link generative AI models that improve process results compared to their manual version.

The second presentation of the day was given by Pedro Álvarez who, as an expert in AI, virtual reality and metaverse, explained how artificial intelligence has been with us for many more years than it seems.

While recent media exposure has put AI in the spotlight, the truth is that models have been being trained and providing us with solutions in a transparent way for years, for example in our cell phones.

Álvarez used his speech to highlight the exponential growth that AI has experienced in recent years and how this growth means that today’s knowledge may be surpassed tomorrow.

Finally, Alvarez showed several examples of what the latest AI milestones have achieved in the form of lag-free conversational chats, image and video generation, or user assistance.

José Miguel Zaldo took advantage of his turn to speak to demystify the existing fear in society regarding the possible loss of jobs in favor of Artificial Intelligence systems.

He explained how, in reality, the new tools being developed are an opportunity to improve key aspects of the workplace. He outlined the benefits that, in many sectors, can accelerate digital transformation and revolutionize the way we think about things today.

Finally, Zaldo pointed out that the countries that will benefit most from these advances in Artificial Intelligence are precisely those that are currently at a disadvantage with respect to the first world countries.

To conclude the presentations, Laura Marrón explained the Basque Government’s strategy with AI through BAIC and detailed the importance of this agency in the improvement and advancement of the Basque business fabric.

This was followed by a question and answer session where the attendees were able to express their doubts and concerns to the speakers.

At the end of the day, a small conversation was held with an aperitif in which all attendees were able to share their impressions.
